Marvel Unveils New ‘X-Men’ Cast With Adam Driver as Mister Sinister
Marvel Studios has unveiled the principal cast for its forthcoming X-Men reboot, confirming Adam Driver as villain Mister Sinister and introducing a new generation of actors who will lead the mutants into the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
The casting was announced during Disney’s D23 fan event in Anaheim, California, on August 14, with Marvel confirming that the film is scheduled to arrive in cinemas in May 2028.
Driver, whose casting had been the subject of speculation for months, appeared by video during the presentation. Rather than taking on Magneto, as some rumours had suggested, he confirmed that he will play Nathaniel Milbury, an identity associated with the X-Men villain Mister Sinister.
The new team will also include Sadie Sink as Jean Grey, Kit Connor as Scott Summers/Cyclops, Samara Weaving as Emma Frost, Christopher Abbott as Professor Charles Xavier, Maya Boyd as Storm and Inde Navarrette as Rogue. Marvel confirmed the lineup through its official website following the D23 presentation.
The project will be directed by Jake Schreier, who previously directed Marvel’s Thunderbolts*. Lee Sung Jin, creator of Beef, and The Bear co-showrunner Joanna Calo are working on the screenplay.
The film represents a major step in Marvel Studios’ long-running effort to bring the X-Men fully into the MCU following Disney’s acquisition of 21st Century Fox’s entertainment assets in 2019.
Some characters from the earlier Fox-era X-Men films have already returned through Marvel’s multiverse storylines, while veteran mutant actors are also being incorporated into upcoming MCU projects.
