Marvel Releases New ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ Special Look at D23
Marvel Studios has released a new public look at Avengers: Doomsday, bringing Robert Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom face-to-face with heroes from the Avengers, Fantastic Four and X-Men ahead of the film’s December 18 theatrical release.
The footage was unveiled during Disney’s D23 fan event in Anaheim, where Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige was joined onstage by Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans and Hayley Atwell. Disney confirmed that the special look is now available publicly, alongside a new poster and ticket sales for the film.
The new trailer pushes Doctor Doom much further into the centre of the story.
Vanessa Kirby’s Sue Storm warns the assembled heroes about the danger posed by Doom before Pedro Pascal’s Reed Richards confronts him directly. Chris Hemsworth’s Thor also appears in battle with Doom, while the footage introduces Sentinels, the machines historically associated with hunting mutants in the X-Men universe.
The trailer also confirms the scale of the crossover Marvel is building.
Disney describes the film as bringing together heroes from three distinct universes who are placed on a collision course while facing an existential threat.
Downey’s role remains one of the most closely watched parts of the project. The actor, who previously spent more than a decade playing Tony Stark and Iron Man, is returning to the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Victor von Doom rather than reprising his former character.
Chris Evans is also returning as Steve Rogers, while the cast includes Chris Hemsworth, Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Florence Pugh, Anthony Mackie, Tom Hiddleston, Sebastian Stan, Letitia Wright, Paul Rudd and Simu Liu.
