The Bluey Movie’ Gets First Look as Hit Series Moves Into 3D for Big Screen
Disney, BBC Studios and Ludo Studio have released the first teaser and poster for The Bluey Movie, offering the clearest look yet at how one of the world’s biggest children’s television properties will make the jump to cinemas.
The footage was unveiled during Disney’s D23 event and shows Bluey and Bingo rendered in full CG animation, a noticeable visual shift from the hand-drawn 2D style audiences know from the television series.
The film is scheduled to open in cinemas on August 6, 2027. The official Bluey website now carries the teaser and promotional material for the theatrical release.
Series creator Joe Brumm is writing and directing the film, which is being produced by Ludo Studio in collaboration with BBC Studios. Disney holds global theatrical distribution rights, with the movie expected to reach Disney+ following its cinema run.
The original voice cast is also returning, including Melanie Zanetti as Chilli and David McCormack as Bandit, while longtime Bluey composer Joff Bush is creating music for the feature.
The first-look footage keeps the story itself largely under wraps. Instead, it introduces the film’s new visual language, with Bluey and Bingo appearing with additional depth, lighting and texture while retaining the familiar designs of the television characters.
That change has already become part of the conversation around the film.
Some viewers responding online have welcomed the more cinematic presentation, while others have questioned moving away from the simple 2D aesthetic that helped distinguish from many other contemporary children’s productions. Those reactions represent early audience opinion rather than an indication of how the completed film will ultimately be received.
