Disney Unveils Major Film and Streaming Slate at D23 2026
Disney has used the opening night of D23 2026 in Anaheim, California, to lay out a major new film and streaming slate, revealing fresh details for Frozen 3, Incredibles 3, Coco 2, Marvel’s VisionQuest and several other projects across Disney, Pixar and Marvel.
One of the biggest announcements involved Frozen 3, which will return to Arendelle with Anna preparing to marry Kristoff. Disney showed first-look footage introducing a new female antagonist, although the company has not yet revealed the character’s identity or voice actor. Kristen Bell, Idina Menzel and Josh Gad appeared during the presentation, with Gad debuting a new Olaf song titled “Ooooh, Samantha.” The film is scheduled for November 2027.
Pixar also gave audiences a first look at Incredibles 3, confirming a June 16, 2028 theatrical release. Peter Sohn is directing, while Oscar winners Dana Murray and Brad Bird are producing.
The studio also revealed new details for Coco 2. Miguel will return as a teenager, while Benjamin Bratt’s Ernesto de la Cruz is set to reappear, sending Miguel back to the Land of the Dead. Lee Unkrich and Adrian Molina return to direct, with the sequel scheduled for November 2029.
Disney is also expanding Coco beyond cinema. Square Enix’s Kingdom Hearts IV will include a world inspired by Coco, with the game currently targeting a late-2027 release window.
Marvel, meanwhile, released the first trailer for VisionQuest, the Disney+ series starring Paul Bettany as Vision and James Spader returning as Ultron. The series premieres October 14, 2026, and follows Vision as he confronts artificial-intelligence personas embedded within his programming while being pursued after a bounty is placed on him.
The announcements came alongside the already revealed cast for Marvel’s upcoming X-Men reboot, which includes Adam Driver, Sadie Sink, Kit Connor, Christopher Abbott, Maya Boyd and Inde Navarrette. Reuters independently confirmed the D23 slate early Saturday.
Disney also announced an original Pixar film titled Ghost Market, centred on a hidden food shop in Hawaii that serves spirits caught between life and death. The film is scheduled for March 2028. A new hybrid live-action and animated Disney+ series based on Oswald the Lucky Rabbit, created by Jon Favreau, will premiere February 17, 2027.
Taken together, the presentation shows Disney continuing to lean heavily on established franchises while also adding selective original projects across cinema, streaming and gaming.
