Alex Cooper's Unwell is launching Unwell Summer Games on YouTube on September 7, bringing together 16 creators, reality personalities and internet figures in a large-scale competition for a $250,000 prize.
The project was announced today and follows Unwell Winter Games, marking another significant move by Cooper's company from podcasting into original television-style entertainment built directly for YouTube.
The series was filmed over four days at a luxury ranch in Canada. Participants include figures associated with Love Island, Perfect Match, Too Hot to Handle and Unwell's own programming, alongside independent creators.
Cooper executive-produces alongside Matt Kaplan, Mina Lefevre and Eric Detwiler, whose previous credits include Netflix reality formats such as Love Is Blind and Perfect Match. Adam Waheed hosts, while Cameron Gerrard and Ekin-Su Cülcüloğlu provide commentary.
The strategy is especially notable because YouTube itself previously identified Unwell Games as part of its slate of ambitious creator-led original programming for 2026.
The first Winter Games episode recorded roughly 1.4 million YouTube views, while its highest-performing episode reached around 1.8 million, according to Deadline's reporting.
The creator economy is moving beyond podcasts, short clips and influencer sponsorships.
Companies founded around individual creators are increasingly trying to become capable of developing formats traditionally associated with television networks.
