Funke Akindele Unveils ‘The Four’ for December Cinema Release
Funke Akindele has announced her next feature film, The Four: No One Fights Alone, setting a December 11, 2026 cinema release for the new Nollywood production. The announcement was amplified across Akindele’s and distributor FilmOne Entertainment’s official social-media channels on August 10.
Produced by Funke Akindele Network, the film follows four women brought together by their determination to protect the future of a young man they care about. The story moves between the fictional Odu Community and the city, with themes around friendship, motherhood, loyalty and resilience.
The production brings together a large Nollywood cast including Akindele, Bisola Aiyeola, Chioma Akpotha, Richard Mofe-Damijo, Timini Egbuson, Lateef Adedimeji, Ali Nuhu, Uzor Arukwe, Ronke Oshodi Oke, Antar Laniyan and Wunmi Toriola. Singer Waje and Afrobeats artist Shoday are also among the announced cast.
For Shoday, the film marks a move into Nollywood after building his profile through music. His appearance alongside Waje also continues Akindele’s practice of bringing music personalities into her film projects.
FilmOne Entertainment is handling theatrical distribution. The company describes its operations as covering Nigerian, West African and international film distribution, giving the December release a wider route beyond the domestic Nigerian market.
The announcement arrives after a run of commercially successful releases from Akindele, including Omo Ghetto: The Saga, Battle on Buka Street, A Tribe Called Judah and Everybody Loves Jenifa. Her December releases have increasingly become major events in Nigeria’s cinema calendar.
The first campaign for is already leaning heavily on social media, with cast members and FilmOne publishing coordinated promotional posts around the announcement. That early rollout suggests the marketing campaign will again rely on the combined audiences of its ensemble cast ahead of the December cinema window.
