Prime Video Commits More Than $2 Billion to Latin America
Prime Video is making its biggest regional streaming investment yet in Latin America, committing more than $2 billion between 2027 and 2030 to original programming, acquired content and live sports across Mexico, Brazil, Argentina, Colombia and Chile.
Amazon announced the investment on August 20, 2026, during its first Prime Video Presents Latin America showcase in Mexico City. The company says the programme will more than double the number of Local Originals produced across the five markets compared with 2026.
More than 25 new titles are already planned for 2027, spanning scripted series, films, documentaries, unscripted programming and reality formats. Among the projects named by Amazon are La Oficina Season 2, Tremembé Season 2, Menem Season 2, Marília, Te Odio, Te Amo, Rojo Corazón, Catedrales and Valentina.
The investment is significant because Prime Video is not limiting its strategy to Spanish-language drama or one dominant market. It is spreading capital across five major Latin American production centres while combining entertainment programming with a growing sports-rights portfolio.
Brazil is receiving a particularly broad slate. Current local reporting from the Mexico City presentation says Prime Video has announced a documentary series following Brazilian music duo Maiara & Maraisa, a new reality programme from Boninho and additional true-crime and scripted productions.
Prime Video is also expanding heavily into live sport.
