Aleksandar Vučić has conceded defeat to Serbia’s student-backed opposition in Sunday’s parliamentary election, while acknowledging that final results were not yet available.
Speaking on 25 October, Vučić said preliminary estimates indicated that the Student List would secure between 135 and 140 seats, compared with around 105 for his camp. Those figures are his estimates, not certified election results.
Regional reporting also carried his acknowledgement that his list had lost.
The concession follows a snap election contested by a student-backed movement that emerged from protests over corruption and accountability. Its parliamentary challenge became a major test of Vučić’s political dominance.
The result points towards a change in parliamentary control. It does not, by itself, confirm the composition of the next government or the final allocation of seats.
