Spider-Man Hits $1.67 Billion as The Odyssey Crosses $1 Billion
Spider-Man: Brand New Day has continued its strong run at the global box office, reaching an estimated $1.67 billion worldwide just 10 days after its theatrical release.
The Sony and Marvel film earned about $144.5 million in North America during its second weekend, taking its domestic total to roughly $655 million. International ticket sales have already passed $1 billion.
The milestone follows a record-breaking opening weekend for the film, which debuted with about $360 million in North America, overtaking Avengers: Endgame for the biggest domestic opening on record.
Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey is also having a strong theatrical run.
The Universal Pictures film has now crossed $1.1 billion worldwide, making it Nolan's highest-grossing film based on unadjusted box-office figures.
Its performance has been particularly strong in premium cinemas. IMAX reported that The Odyssey helped deliver the company's highest-grossing month on record in July.
The success of both films comes during an encouraging year for cinemas after several years of disruption and changing viewing habits.
Five films have now crossed $1 billion globally in 2026, according to the Associated Press, while the North American box office is having its strongest post-pandemic year.
Streaming remains a major part of how audiences consume films, but the latest numbers show that large theatrical releases can still draw significant audiences when there is enough anticipation around them.
For studios and cinema operators, the rest of 2026 will provide a clearer picture of whether the momentum can continue beyond this year's biggest releases.
