There is a side of ambition people like to talk about.
The wins. The progress. The moment when years of work finally begin to show.
On “Pray,” Khidxavage is thinking about what comes after that.
Taken from his eight-track project ESSENTIALS, “Pray” finds Khidxavage looking beyond the excitement of wanting more and towards something that is not always said out loud: the pressure that comes with finally having something to lose.
It is a different conversation from much of ESSENTIALS.
Across the project, Khidxavage moves through attraction, relationships, confidence and desire. But on “Pray,” the attention turns back to him. There is no relationship at the centre of the story and little interest in simply celebrating success.
Instead, he is thinking about the climb.
About working for something, watching it slowly begin to take shape and realising that progress does not always remove uncertainty. Sometimes, it gives you something new to worry about.
Because once you have built something, you have something to protect.
That tension sits at the heart of “Pray.”
Khidxavage does not romanticise the grind. He acknowledges the pressure of staying focused when the stakes begin to rise, the responsibility that comes with protecting what has already been built and the quiet fear that one wrong move could change everything.
But “Pray” is not a record about being defeated by that fear.
The title tells part of the story.
